TRYING GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE UPDATE

Hey hey!! Sorry for the late post you guys but boy have the last few days been crazy! So I graduated college on Friday (wow wow wow does it feel weird), Mother's Day was Sunday and today I started Maymester. Although I did graduate last Friday I am one credit short so I'm taking a quick 2 1/2 week class to officially finish up. Point is it feels like time is flying by but I have some exciting blog posts coming up!

Today I am coming back to you all with an update on my post from a couple weeks ago talking all about my gluten and dairy free experiment. If you haven't checked that post out, I really recommend reading that before this one so you can get some context! Check the post out here.

Well I have to be honest with the craziness of finals and graduation this whole experiment was kinda a fail. Things were so hectic that I was eating out like CRAZY and not really caring about what I ate. This week I am taking control and really putting effort into being aware of what I'm putting into my body. Recently, we have discovered that my boyfriend is gluten sensitive so I have been buying mostly gluten free but I do have to note that he doesn't live with me so I only buy a few things to have here for him to snack on. That being said, I've decided not to be strict about my gluten intake for two reasons. One is I believe everything in moderation and since I don't have a gluten sensitivity I don't really need to be drastic about cutting it out of my diet. Second is since my boyfriend is gluten free now I am eating less gluten anyways so again I guess that goes back to the moderation thing. So basically I'm eating pretzels this week haha.

Now onto dairy... okay this is the thing I do need to stay away from yet I struggle so hard! I could eat cheese by the block. I have not been good about avoiding dairy which is bad because I do have a dairy sensitivity. This week I'm really trying to get back on track! I will always allow myself a bit of dairy here and there because weakness okay? Haha! Anyways, this week I have stocked up majorly  on snacks and meals that do not have dairy. I find that is where I struggle is not getting enough food at the store (I'm also lazy lol) so I end up going out!

Ahh sorry for such a long post! I'm not really sure where to conclude this lol so we will just leave it open ended! I want to do more health/nutrition posts so maybe in a few weeks I'll try something new again! Below is my "menu" for this week:

**keep in mind I don't have a problem eating the same thing multiple times a week**

Breakfast:

Hard boiled eggs, bagel (gluten free) with avo, (dairy free) yogurt, toast (gluten free), smoothie

Snacks: RX bars, pretzels, "green" muffins from Kristin Cavallari's book (I make them gluten free by using coconut flour), fruit

Lunch: bean, hummus, spinach sandwich, tuna salad (literally tuna, mayo, relish) on spinach

Dinner: gluten free avocado pasta (from Oh She Glows first cookbook, I think this is the same recipe?), burrito bowls (literally throw rice (brown so GF), beans, beef crumbles (I use beyond meat), lettuce, avo in a bowl), sweet chili burgers from Trader joes with french fries

There ya have it! My kind of gluten, totally dairy free week of meals! Let me know below of any posts you would like to see regarding health/nutrition!

XOXO, Maddy
