5 Ways To Be Healthier Right Now!

Happy Monday everyone!! How was everyone's Father's Day weekend!? My dad, brother and I went bowling and got some lunch; it was a really nice day! Anyways, I've been really enjoying writing health related posts, like the post I wrote on gastritis or this post where I talked about my fave recipes, so I thought let's start this Monday off with some healthy tips! Today I wanted to share five tips to be healthier right now. Being healthy doesn't have to be ridiculously complex, taking small and simple steps add up. You know how people always say "I just crave healthy food" or "Working out is a part of my routine that I can't miss"? Those things can be true for anyone but it didn't happen overnight! Working in healthy habits here and there will eventually train your brain and body to be healthy all the time! Scroll down to see my 5 tips!

1. Get a cute Tumbler!
We have all heard that drinking water is AMAZING for you, I know I've said it a few times on here! It can be tricky though because it can get a little boring. While adding fruit into your water can be great, I love putting water into a cute drinking cup. A cute tumbler makes me want to carry around water more AND tumbler's have a straw which makes drinking water even easier! Yes that sounds lazy but trust me you're more likely to drink something when you don't have to unscrew a cap.

2. Buy one new fruit and veggie a week!
This will get you to broaden your palate but not feel like you're buying a bunch of fruit and veggies that you don't know what to do with! Fruits and veggies offer such a variety of vitamins and minerals for your body that it is good to shake things up. Also, you might surprise yourself and find a fruit or veggie you love. An extra tip: buy pre-cut fruit if you can! It can be a little more expensive but sometimes it's worth it if it'll make you eat it because you don't have to do any work!

3. Get Outside!
Now that it is summer take advantage of the outdoors! Not only is it SO GOOD for you to get that vitamin D but it can be so mentally refreshing to be in nature. I also love doing outdoor activities because it doesn't feel like you're exercising and I find time passes so quickly so you're being active way longer than you might've planned! Go on a hike, try paddle boarding, or take your strength training to a park!

4. Stretch!
I know this may sound a little silly but stretching can make you healthier! It seems so simple but stretching makes working out easier because your muscles are more flexible. Also, if you do twist-like stretches it releases the toxins that have built up in your body. Make sure to stretch before and after your workout!

5. Make your meals balanced!
I  recently discovered nutritionist Kelly Leveque and I'm totally obsessed! She believes in balance which I think is extremely important. This may take a little more research but it is very easy to find how to eat a balanced meal. I recommend checking out Kelly's website for ideas and I believe she has a book now. Like I said this may take a smidge more effort but it isn't complicated! For your next meal try a lean protein, a complex carb and a veggie; this combo of foods will help fuel you for anything coming your way!

What is your fave healthy tip?
XOXO, Maddy
