Beauty Counter Review: Makeup

Shop This Post: Five Minute Face

Happy Friday everyone! This weekend Kyle and I are heading up to the mountains and I'm so looking forward to relaxing in a little bit in a different environment! Anyways, I am back for round TWO of my Beauty Counter review (not sponsored) and this time I'm taking makeup. I'm only reviewing the Flawless in Five which obviously includes only 5 of their makeup products so I can only speak on these items. This kit comes with a foundation, concealer, brow pencil, mascara, blush, and a lip gloss. If you haven't seen my first post, check it out here, but Beauty Counter is a safe beauty brand which is why I was so interested to try their products. Let's get into the reviews!!

Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation: Let me just put it out there this is not for someone who likes a lot of coverage! I personally prefer light coverage so this is perfect for me and it feels so good on the skin. I wouldn't say this foundation is overly hydrating or dewy so if you have oily skin I think you could powder a little and be fine. Although for my dry skin girls this is perfect! Also, I wear the color sand for reference.

Concealer Pen: Okay so I'm in the middle on this concealer... it's not bad by any means but I'm not over the moon about it either. I chose the color light and I should've gotten the shade fair; when picking makeup colors light is a pretty safe bet for me and I have to say their light is fairly dark and a little too peachy. To cover up pimples it can work but under eyes it covers but doesn't brighten at all which to be fair it doesn't say it does but I figured with going with light it would a little. It has a creamy consistency and doesn't feel heavy which I like. Like I said, it's not bad at all and I'll use it but will I repurchase? Probably not.

Brow Pencil: Let me start of by saying I'm a much bigger fan of twist up brow pencils rather than a traditional brow pencil but (I haven't done the research) I feel like maybe when trying to exclude "bad" ingredients it might be easier to go with a traditional pencil. I chose the color medium which for me is perfect. How I feel about this pencil is how I feel about the concealer... it's fine. I like it and it does a good job but once it's used up I'll probably try another "safe" brow product.

Lengthening Mascara: I chose the lengthening over volumizing because I feel that's my biggest struggle regarding my lashes. I hate to talk bad about any product but I have to be honest... this mascara is not good. Again, it might be tricky for them to find a good formula because they exclude so many ingredients which I totally understand but I'm finding it hard to use this mascara. It is so unbelievably dry and doesn't do anything for my lashes. Maybe if you like extremely natural lashes this would be good for you but I find it a hard formula to work with.

Blush Duo: I got the tawny/whisper combo and I haven't tried the tawny part only the whisper color which is the blush. It isn't the most pigmented but that can be a good thing because it's hard to go over board. I think it applies nicely but I wasn't overly impressed. I like it, I'll definitely use it and I love that it is safe. I feel like it sounds like I don't like this blush but I do I'm just not like WOW OMG THIS IS AMAZING ya know?

Lip Gloss: Okay this product is OMG AMAZING!!! I want to buy every single color they have! I got the color peony and it is pigmented but not overly so because it is a lip gloss which is more about shine which this for sure has. This is one of the creamiest and smoothest lip glosses I've ever tried safe beauty or not. Even if you don't care about ingredients buy this lip gloss lol!

Overall the products I would repurchase/buy more of are the foundation and lip gloss. I really love that Beauty Counter is trying to put out more safe products so I'm open to trying what they have. If you guys have any other recommendations for other safe beauty brands I'd love to hear!

XOXO, Maddy
