3 Simple Ways To Be Environmentally Friendly

Let's talk about how to be more environmentally friendly! This is a newer venture for me and by that I mean I've always recycled and things like that but I've never deep dived into this topic. This has because more prevalent for me because I've realized how it is so incredibly important to be aware of how we're affecting our world. This subject can honestly seem very overwhelming and has overwhelmed me at times but the most important part is that I'm trying!

Once you start looking into all the ways to help the environment it feels daunting but remember it isn't about being perfect that's why I wanted to share some simple and easy ways to contribute to bettering the environment. I hope as I continue to learn more about how to help the environment I can share with you all and we can take this journey together!

3 Ways To Be Environmentally Friendly

1. Use Reusable Straws

This one is a biggie for me because I drink a smoothie just about everyday and I NEED to drink it with a straw. For a while I was using plastic throw away straws every. single. day. which makes me cringe now because that is so much extra plastic I was putting into the world! A couple months ago I went to Target and found some BPA free reusable silicon straws that have now replaced my gross plastic straws.

2. Use Reusable Shopping Bags

This one seems like a no brainer coming from someone who lives in a city where they charge you extra if you use a plastic or paper grocery bag but I know that in most areas that's not the case. It is so easy to purchase a few reusable grocery bags, keep them in your trunk and use them when you're out shopping. They're also way more sturdy so you don't have to worry about them braking when you're carrying your groceries to your car!

3. Donate/Sell Your Old Clothes

Unless something is truly disgusting or beaten up donate or sell any unwanted clothing! The fashion industry is really taking its toll on the environment, in multiple ways, so giving a new life to old clothes helps lessen the impact. Fast fashion is huge right now but, like I said, is very damaging to the environment so be conscious about what you purchase and don't just throw things out once your over a certain item.

Let me know what you do to help the environment in the comments or on Instagram!

XOXO, Maddy
