3 Things I've Learned Since Graduating

Happy Wednesday! How is everyone's week going? On a totally random note, yesterday I got this adorable dress in the mail from Neiman Marcus Last Call and it is going to be so cute for summer! It's only $62 and they're always offering other deals too!

Back to the topic of today's post... I graduated in May 2017 and I've definitely learned a lot in the last year. Don't expect some magical advice though because I definitely don't have it! I just wanted to share a few things I've come to realize within the past year and maybe it'll help some of you who either just graduated or are in the same boat as me.

1. Don't Compare Yourself To Other Graduates

Social media these days has us comparing ourselves to anyone and everyone which can do major damage to our confidence and motivation. There are some people in your class who will get that amazing job in an amazing city and everything will seem so amazing BUT you never know what else they might be going through. Also, be happy for them because being a sour puss only makes you look bad. While there are those people who truly have an amazing situation TRUST ME most people are faking it. There are so many people who make it seem like they got everything going on but they truly don't. Comparing yourself is a waste of time and energy so stay in your own lane and focus on getting to where you want to go!

2. Forget Your Plan

I think this was my biggest lesson this past year; I'm a dreamer so I can come up with some pretty major plans for myself and boy did I have plans for myself after graduation. Welp NONE of those plans happened not a single one and ya know what I've learned to accept? That is totally okay. Life has a way of showing us what we need and not necessarily what we want. Don't forget your goals, hopes and dreams but know that HOW you get there might not go according to the plan you've created. It's honestly going to go better than you thought because everything happens for a reason.

3. Get Uncomfortable To Get Comfortable

This is a lesson I'm learning right now and also a lesson I think I needed to learn this year, that's why all my "plans" didn't work out to begin with. This is something I heard Lauryn from The Skinny Confidential say for a while now but it wasn't till just recently it really stuck. The road to our goals is not going to be a smooth straight line, there will for sure be A LOT of bumps in the road but taking them head on and adjusting as you go will grow you as a person. We MUST get uncomfortable REALLY uncomfortable in our own skin, in our own lives, to get to where we want to go.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

XOXO, Maddy
