Body Confidence

Happy Friday everyone!! Today I wanted to talk about something that I've wanted to talk about but honestly was kinda nervous. Body confidence is something I think is everyone struggles with throughout life and it can be a toughie, right??

While I have had moments of body insecurity throughout my life recently I've struggled with it again.  Eeeekkk this is really nerve racking to write but I think it's a good thing to share our struggles that way know other's are going through it too. Last September I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and boy did it change my body. Now this isn't some "omg I gained 75 pounds and lost it all and now I have so much confidence" story, I gained weight but it wasn't much. That being said, my body changing, even if not by very much, was hard to accept. I would eat relatively healthy and work out yet I was gaining weight and no it wasn't healthy muscle weight gain. I've been small my whole life so this was (and still is) a struggle.

It's so hard not to get down on yourself or beat yourself up for not looking like all those girls (or guys) on Instagram. I'm getting better on being kinder to myself but not comparing yourself is really hard! I know with Summer coming up the pressure seems to be even stronger and that's why I wanted to post this now. With all my blog posts I try to have advice and tips to be helpful but to be honest I don't really have that because I still don't have the whole body confidence thing figured out.

I guess this is just a reminder, if you need it, to go easy on yourself and to do the best you can. If you want to workout go for it or if you want to pick the salad over fries, that's awesome! BUT it's okay to have days where you are a couch potato and eat a sheet cake with a spoon. Our bodies are really freaking amazing they do so much for us every single day without fail so be kind to your body (physically and mentally) whether that means pushing yourself through your workout or telling yourself that it's alright to order a pizza.

XOXO, Maddy
