How I Make My Work Days Easier

I struggled with what to call this blog post... "What I Do At Night To Make My Mornings Easier", "How To Make Your Mornings Easier, "How I Prep For Work", and so on and so on. None of those felt like I was getting across what I wanted and neither does this title really but we're going to role with it! Basically what I wanted to talk about was what I do at night to prep for the next work day so that my morning goes a lot smoother.

Over the past few months that I've worked a 9 to 5 (well actually a 930 to 630) I've learned a lot about how to get the most out of my nights. Since I don't get home till after 7 I want to take advantage of that time to chill and spend time with Kyle BUT I found when all I did was relax my mornings were chaos. I had to find a balance of relaxing yet being productive because running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to pack at lunch at the last minute wasn't working for me.

Here are some things I do at night to make the next day a lot easier!

  • Have an idea of what my outfit will be the next day (even better to set it out!)
  • Meal prep for lunch (I don't make my lunch in full but I do any prepping that'll take too long in the morning)
  • Do a 5 minute apartment clean up
  • Fill up water bottle & set out workout clothes if I'm working out in the morning
  • Set reminders (in the reminder app) of anything important I need to do the next day
  • 5-10 minute stretch (day after day of sitting in a desk gets to you)
  • Move any meat from freezer to fridge if that's our dinner the next night
  • RELAX
Most of these to-do's are really simple but truly make the biggest difference in my stress/anxiety level the next day. Also, all of these really don't take long at all so if I'm feeling lazy I still push myself to do them. Most importantly I take time to catch up with Kyle and take time to myself!

XOXO, Maddy
